DUBAI, 15th October / WAM / The International Humanitarian City has launched an operation in Dubai to operate a relief airlift to transport emergency medical supplies and food aid to Egypt and Lebanon to improve preparedness to face the increasing challenges posed by the emergency crisis. In response to urgent appeals from the World Health Organization, the World Food Program and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the region.
In this context, Giuseppe Saba, Executive Director of the International Humanitarian City in Dubai, said: We urgently launched a humanitarian airlift to transport emergency relief supplies to those affected by the worsening crisis in the region. These efforts reflect a spirit of cooperation. During conflicts and emergencies, the city benefits from its extensive network and resources to strengthen humanitarian efforts, support rapid responses to humanitarian crises, and raise the level of emergency preparedness, thereby saving innocent lives.
Today, the first relief package from the stockpiles of the World Food Program and UNICEF, including more than 11 tons of water and personal hygiene items, was sent from Dubai to Egypt’s Al-Arish Airport in North Sinai. Dignity of victims and providing them with basic food items, which greatly improves health response capacity through the Egyptian Red Cross, mitigates the impact of food shortages and ensures that communities are prepared to meet the immediate needs arising from the emergency crisis.
