Dubai, July 25, 2021 (WAM) – Dubai hosted 270 local and international sporting events in the first half of 2021 with the support, oversight and collaboration of the Dubai Sports Council.
The Council announced figures and statistics on sporting events held from 1 January to 30 June 2021, including international competitions, social events, women’s sporting events, conferences, exhibitions and virtual events covering 55 sports.
Dubai 47 Global Sports Events were attended by more than 50,000 athletes of various nationalities and ages, with an additional 151 local community sporting events attended by 39,409 people from all sections of the community. These events include 45 women’s sporting events, 20 eSports events, seven conferences and exhibitions and 53 training camps for international clubs and teams in various sports.
Events organized or initiated in collaboration with the Council took place in various parts of Dubai, including Al Marmoum Reserve, which hosted 27 events, Jumeirah, which hosted 16 events, and Hatta, which hosted four events.
The 25th Annual Dubai World Cup, hosted by the Dubai Racing Club, takes place on the last Saturday of March each year at the Maiden Racecourse, one of the most important sporting events of the first quarter of 2021.
The list includes the 32nd edition of the Omega Dessert Classic, the Dubai Dooty Free Tennis Championship, the 6th edition of the Dubai Ironman 70.3, the ASPC Elite Delhi-Dubai 2021 Men & Women Boxing Championship and the World Championship. PUBG Mobile.
The Australian Open tennis qualifiers took place in Dubai, the Hong Kong 24H Dubai and the prestigious Ultra Marathon Al Marhum.
The council also organized the Dubai Women’s Running Challenge, which was held in four phases at various tourist attractions in Dubai, including Dubai Safari Park, Jumeirah Palm, Dubai Garden Glow and Al Seef. More than 1,200 female sprinters took part in the series, whose medals were creatively designed to represent the scenes of that particular stage, and when combined together, all four medals form the word “Dubai”.
