Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced on Saturday that the code behind the algorithm that recommends tweets to users will become open source on March 31.
Mr. Musk previously promised to open source the Twitter algorithm weeks ago, but he failed to deliver. He described the algorithm as “very complex” and said it was not even understood internally. However, he promised to fix the issues soon.

“We’re working on a simpler approach to delivering more compelling tweets, but it’s still a work in progress,” Musk said. It will also be open source. The Twitter CEO said the code’s transparency would be “very uncomfortable” but would gradually improve the quality of suggested tweets to earn users’ trust.
Musk promised to share ad revenue with Twitter Blue subscribers, but said eligible users have yet to start receiving their payments.
Musk also said on Saturday that Twitter will use artificial intelligence to “detect and prioritize public opinion” on the platform.
Despite approval from Tesla’s billionaire owner, he feared artificial intelligence techniques made him nervous and helped accelerate the technology, which The Hindu newspaper said was “very dangerous”. (agencies)
