Former Bayern Munich midfielder Stefan Effenberg has not ruled out the possibility of Julian Nagelsmann returning as coach of the Bavarian club one day.
Nagelsmann was sacked from Bayern training last Friday and Thomas Tuchel took over after losing the Bundesliga lead with 9 rounds to go before the end of the season.
Many fans criticized the decision on social media platforms, and Joshua Kimmich released statements that some described as criticizing the Bayern Munich board of directors.
“The most important thing for Nagelsmann now is to learn from this experience during his next job,” Effenberg told the “Toneline” portal on Sunday. “He’s a good coach, but there’s more to Bayern.”
“If he works on it, he might get a chance to come back to Munich, maybe in 10 years,” he added.
Nagelsmann, 35, could benefit from Bayern Munich’s penchant for hiring German-speaking coaches to avoid the problems faced by Spaniard Pep Guardiola and Italian Carlo Ancelotti in the past.
The surprise signing of Thomas Duchel comes amid speculation that Tottenham are close to signing him to succeed their current Italian coach, Antonio Conte.
Nagelsmann could find himself a candidate to coach Tottenham and possibly Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid.
