Ed Sheeran postponed his Las Vegas concert Saturday an hour before he was due to take the stage at Allegiant Stadium. The “Shape of You” singer, 32, who is currently traveling on her Math Tour, announced the news in a post on her Instagram account, in which she said: “I can’t believe I’m writing this, but there were. Some challenges… getting ready for our Vegas show. When confronted. It was impossible to move forward with the offer. “I’m very sorry.”
In a media statement released on his Instagram account, Sheeran said the official reason for postponing the concert was a “safety issue” due to problems with the floor of his sound towers: “The rubber tiles have come loose – causing the two tall towers to slide…one foot each overnight.” Engineers will drill holes. They tore down the instrument and strengthened the rebuilding process, but both towers are still moving … leading to the cancellation.”
Sheeran posted on his post: “This is a safety issue and we’ve tried everything we can to finish the show, but I won’t risk the safety of my fans for anything. I’m very disappointed, this is largely out of my control, but I take full responsibility for all the non-cancellations. Sheeran said his comeback show on October 28 was “going to be great”. He apologized for the late notification to the thousands of fans who had purchased tickets for his “Math Tour,” many of whom were in the arena when it was renewed.
“Nothing diminishes the effort people put into getting to Vegas, and I’m sorry it wasn’t delivered sooner to the people waiting outside,” he wrote. We thought the show would go on till the last minute but it didn’t happen due to security reasons. Sorry again to everyone affected and we hope to see you in October.
Many fans have publicly expressed their disappointment that they only traveled to see Sheeran live and will not be able to see him perform on the scheduled date. “It’s too bad because we won’t see him because we didn’t spend that money to go to Vegas,” said Ryan Schneider, a Canadian resident who spent $400 on tickets to Sheeran’s show for his 28th birthday. “That’s why we came to Vegas,” he added. We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Sheeran’s concert.
The Clark County Fire Department responded to several fans who were treated for heat-related issues, including one who was taken to a nearby hospital after waiting outside for several hours in extremely high temperatures.
