Diabetes can be divided into two different types, but the second type is responsible for most cases. This condition is often understood as a lifelong disease, but due to lifestyle, some events are reversible.

Prevention is just as important as losing weight and following a healthy diet. But a supplement can benefit diabetics by increasing insulin sensitivity and lowering blood sugar levels.

Milk thistle is rich in antioxidants, which provide protection against high blood sugar levels.

This plant is widely promoted for its health and medicinal benefits and is traditionally used to treat various ailments.

These health benefits extend from brain function to liver and bone health, but diabetics can also benefit from the plant.

The anti-diabetic effects of milk thistle are attributed to the plant’s ability to increase insulin sensitivity.

To increase insulin production in the pancreas, blood sugar levels may eventually drop.

A study in a sample of 51 participants with diabetes confirmed these effects.

Lessons were assigned to receive daily extra milk thistle or placebo, and examined at monthly intervals.

Fasting blood glucose levels dropped from 156 mg / dL to 133 mg / dL, and placebo fasting blood glucose from 167 to 188 mg / dL.

The lead author of the study, Falah Hossaini of the Medicinal Plants Institute, said: “The results are very encouraging. Now we need to do even bigger, more central research.”

The researchers noted: “Although there were no significant differences between the two groups of patients at the beginning of the study, the results show that milk thistle juices significantly reduced blood glucose levels in diabetics at the end of the study.”

Herbal supplements have also been shown to have a significant effect on reducing bad cholesterol levels in diabetics.

In fact, after treatment with milk thistle supplements, LDL cholesterol levels were reduced by 12 percent, as well as total cholesterol.

What is diabetes? The pancreas produces a hormone called insulin to absorb sugar into the bloodstream, allowing it to enter cells where it is converted into energy.

When insulin sensitivity decreases or hormone production stops completely, blood sugar levels rise.

High blood sugar, also known as hyperglycemia, can lead to serious health problems if left untreated for a long time.

First, it damages the vessels that supply blood to vital organs, which increases the risk of stroke, kidney problems and vision problems.

But neurological problems such as peripheral neuropathy can also develop, which in severe cases can lead to organ amputation.

Excessive thirst, frequent urination, unexpected weight loss and fatigue may be symptoms of high blood sugar.

However, symptoms of chronic high blood sugar include tingling or numbness in the hands and feet.

These symptoms usually indicate nerve damage at the ends of the body, where the nerves are more sensitive to touch.
