At the age of 72, French businessman, quadriplegic Philippe Bosso de Borgo, whose story inspired the movie “The Untouchables”, which, according to one of the directors of this tape, is considered one of the most successful works. French cinema and the American film “The Upside” were quoted from it.
Eric Toledano, who directed “The Untouchables” with Olivier Nakache in 2011, told Agence France-Presse that Di Borgo “died last night in Marrakech.”
The director described De Burgo’s death as “shocking” and “a very sad thing”.
“The Untouchables” was shown in about 50 countries and attracted about 20 million viewers in France, and was a huge hit in Europe, especially in Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Italy. The American film “The Upside” starring Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart was quoted from him.
Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, descended from a former Corsican aristocratic family, was in charge of the Pomerie Champagne Company. In 1993, he had an accident while paragliding that left him on all fours.
In a book she published in France in 2001, she described how she came out of her depression thanks to her life supporter, Abdul Yasmin Chilo.
The story is adapted from the 2011 film “The Untouchables”, in which French actors François Closier and Omar Sy portray de Burgo and his assistant, and won the César Award for Best Actor in 2012 for their roles.
