Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden have won the Premier League Player of the Year and Young Player awards respectively.
After being crowned the best player of the season in the 2019/2020 season, de Bruyne received the most votes during the second round of mass voting, according to the British news agency “PA Media”, while Foten won the Best Award. Young player for the second year in a row.
Both have played key roles this season with Manchester City aiming to win the league title for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
De Bruyne, who has 15 league goals and 13 assists, has surpassed teammates Joao Gonzalo and Jarrod Bowen, Pugo Sama, James Ward-Bros, Son Hyung-min, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.
“I am very proud to have won this award for the second time,” the Belgian international told the official website of Manchester City.
He added: “There is a lot of quality in the Premier League and I am delighted to be nominated among these great players who have had fantastic seasons with their clubs.”
De Bruyne became the fourth player to win the award twice, after Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Nemanja Vidic.
Foten scored nine goals, the same number of assists he scored last season, and could improve his tally when his team meets Aston Villa on Sunday in the final round of the season.
“I am very proud to have won this award for the second year in a row,” Foten said on his club’s official website.
“There are a lot of talented young players in the Premier League this season, and it’s a great honor for me to win this award again,” he said.
After beating Alexander-Arnold, Saga, Mason Mount, Aaron Ramstale, Declan Rice, Connor Gallagher, and Derek Mitchell, fans chose Photon for the Young Player of the Season award.
