The recently concluded Dubai Design Week succeeded in attracting tens of thousands of experts, professionals and enthusiasts to Dubai, achieving an increase of more than 60% in the number of visitors compared to last year’s edition. Rapid growth is seen through design and creative industries in Dubai. It consolidates the emirate’s position as a global destination for design and creativity and strengthens its position in the UNESCO Creative Cities network.
More than 500 creative designers and engineers participated in Dubai Design Week, while the Downtown Design Exhibition saw the participation of more than 300 companies specializing in the design industry.
Projects selected as a result of Dubai Design Week will be permanently exhibited in the Dubai Design District. It includes the most important works in the “Abwab” exhibition 2023 titled “From Palm Tree” by Emirati engineer and designer Abdullah Al Mulla. The work will be transported to the headquarters of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), where it will be displayed before returning to its home in the Dubai Design District.
For her part, Khadijah Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President – Dubai Design District, Teacom Group, said this year’s Dubai Design Week and “Downtown Design” editions are a testament to Dubai’s growing status as a global creative capital.
