American businessman Patrick Pete David, a neighbor of the legendary Lionel Messi and Inter Miami player, has seen a boom in real estate prices near the home of the Argentinian star who moved to the United States in the summer of 2023.
Messi, along with his wife Antonella and their three children, initially rented a $9 million (£7 million) apartment before splashing the cash on a $10.75 million waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale.
Spread over 10,500 square feet, Messi's home includes 10 bedrooms, a spa room, two boat docks, a swimming pool and a balcony with stunning views. There are said to be two apartments on Sunny Isles Beach.
Patrick Pete David said in a statement to “VladTV”: “Messi just moved next door to my house. There's a real estate boom in South Florida, so right now, with the current climate, I've already reached $25 million in equity in the house I own.”
He added: “Everyone wants to be in our community. It's a gated community on an island, with only one road, very safe and guarded. Now with Messi, everyone comes in boats to look at houses.”
Messi is now enjoying a well-deserved break in Argentina, but he will return to the US in early 2024 as Inter Miami prepare for friendly dates against Newell's Old Boys and Saudi club Al-Nasser.
