Italy’s Matteo Boretti defeats Britain’s Andy Murray in two sets to win the Stuttgart Open tennis title.
Italy’s Matteo Borettini, ranked 10th in the world, won the Stuttgart Open on the lawn for the second time in his career on Sunday, beating 47th-ranked Andy Murray of Britain in two sets.
After Murray lost his second final this year after the Australian Championship in Sydney, Pretini won the set 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in two hours and 40 minutes.

Expressing his delight at winning the title, Proteini said, “It was incredible. I recovered from injury and won the championship from the first surgery of my life. Knowing that I did not play in my best matches, it was wonderful.”
It is noteworthy that Murray played in the 70th final of his career, his last victory at the Belgian Championships in Antwerp in 2019, while his last crown on the grass returned to Wimbledon in 2016.
