Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola got into a verbal altercation between Uruguayan player Darwin Nunes, Liverpool striker and Spain coach Pep Guardiola after the 1-1 draw between City and the Reds in the 13th round of the Premier League.
The altercation began after the final whistle at the Etihad Stadium. After Guardiola shook hands with German Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp, Núñez approached Pep and shook hands with him, but instead he tried to blame the Spanish coach for something that happened on the field, and an argument broke out between the two, so Klopp intervened. It stops things from developing.
It is unclear what sparked the tense row between the City coach and the Uruguay international, but British sports commentator Peter Drury confirmed that “both sides exchanged inappropriate words”.
Media close to Liverpool reported that Nunez insulted the Catalan coach.

Commenting on the incident, Guardiola said in a report by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”: “Nothing happened to Nunes.”
I kept him away from me because he was stronger than me,” he added sarcastically.

Guardiola seems to have avoided re-igniting the crisis with reports of the incident, especially after his friendly conversation with Klopp.
As for the strange comment on the incident between Guardiola and Nunes, it came from Klopp, who said “he’s not the best person to explain what happened because I wasn’t involved, I didn’t really understand anything. The conversation between them was word of mouth.”
The draw was City’s second of the season with 9 wins and two losses, while Liverpool drew for the fourth time this season with 8 wins and one loss.
With the draw, the Citizens lost the lead to Arsenal, who defeated their hosts Brentford with a clean sheet.
