Lucasfilm announced on Tuesday that a movie will soon be dedicated to “Baby Yoda,” the character who has gained widespread popularity in the “Star Wars” world in recent years through “The Mandalorian” series.
Jon Favreau, who previously directed “The Mandalorian,” will direct the film.
In the series, viewers followed the adventures of mysterious bounty hunter Tin Jar, who befriends a small green creature named Kroku, whom he undertakes to deliver to an evil client.
This green alien with big pointed ears and big, adorable black eyes quickly won the admiration of the audience, who called him “Baby Yoda” on social networks, because he is the same type as the character “Grandmaster Yoda” in the main “Star Wars”. ” movies.
In a statement, Favreau expressed his excitement for the idea of ”bringing The Mandalorian and his student Kroku to the big screen.”
It is not yet clear if Pedro Pascal, who played the Mandalorian in the series, will also play the bounty hunter in the film. Also, no official date for the release of the movie has been fixed yet.
The last movie in the “Star Wars” universe came out in 2019 titled “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and despite negative critical articles about it, grossed over a billion dollars worldwide.
Since then, a group of film projects have been announced, but it is not known if they will actually materialize.
Initially directed by Marvel's Kevin Feige and Patty Jenkins, the film was dismissed without fanfare.
According to Disney's schedule, the next “Star Wars” movie is scheduled for release in May 2026.
