Ancelotti won three titles with “Al-Merengue” this season, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and the King’s Cup.
After an embarrassing 1-5 exit against City in the Champions League semi-finals, Carlo lost the Spanish league to arch-rivals Barcelona and the European Champions League.
French newspaper Owens Mondial revealed Real Madrid’s bitter rejection of Manchester City (5-1 on aggregate) in the first Champions League semi-final on Wednesday evening, with Carlo Ancelotti’s future in the spotlight.
“Royal club president Florentino Perez met Carlo Ancelotti this morning and assured him he will stay next season,” he said.
Also, “the two discussed what needs to be done in the transfer window to improve the team’s competitiveness next season.”
Ones Mondial, citing Spanish Marca, said Perez blamed the loss of the Etihad Stadium on the shoulders of the players, not the team’s technical staff.
He explained that Perez and Ancelotti discussed the team’s needs, including four positions: a left winger, a field midfielder, a winger and a replacement striker for Karim Benzema.
He said: “The most urgent names are Fran Garcia at left-back, Davies emerging as a replacement from Bayern Munich and Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund and Ibrahim Diaz on loan at AC Milan up front.
The club’s management are also looking for an obvious striker to add to the Royal squad, and the most prominent names that have been circulated recently include Juventus striker Dusan Vilahovic and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.
