An American airline is tactfully reducing the number of flights this summer .. What is the reason?

Date:

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Delta Airlines announced on Thursday that it was cutting 100 flights from its summer schedule, saying it would “rise quickly while reducing obstacles and facing challenges.”

Citing growing demand and the challenge of “rebuilding Delta’s overall operations”, the airline announced a reduction in daily flights between July 1 and August 7, which will primarily affect markets in the United States and Latin America.

Delta said it will continue to adjust its schedule in the coming weeks.

“More than ever, factors such as weather, air traffic control, vendor recruitment and increased Govt-19 infection rate are affecting our operations and contributing more than planned to the irregular deficit,” said Alison Asant, the company’s chief customer experience officer. In a statement, it is planned in some working groups, and this results in a process that has not always met the standards set for the Delta industry in recent years. “

Delta was not the first airline to reduce the frequency of summer flights due to operational problems.

Jet Blue Airways has announced In April, this will reduce the number of flights From his summer schedule, 8-10%, due to “current industry challenges”. And reduced Alaska Airlines To match “test efficiency”, it will be 2% until June.

On Thursday, Delta Memorial Day canceled flights scheduled for the southern and northeastern parts of the United States over the weekend, and the federal holiday in the United States was celebrated last Monday beginning May 26-28 due to weather forecasts. .

The fare difference will be waived during the re-booked trip on or before May 31st.

Delta’s announcement comes as 3 million Americans are expected to travel by air during the Memorial Day holiday, according to American Aviation Association estimates.

This number has increased by 25% over the previous year, and this is the approximate number of airline passengers on holiday in 2019.

In total, the American Aviation Association expects 39.2 million people to travel 50 miles or more from home during the holidays.
