(Reuters) – US consumer sentiment fell to its lowest level in almost a decade in August.
The University of Michigan’s consumer confidence index fell to 70.3 in August, the lowest level since December 2011, from a final reading of 81.2 in July.
Economists polled by Reuters expected a reading of 70.7.
The final reading for August was slightly changed from the initial reading of 70.2 earlier this month.
