Sarhan added: “I started my work by looking for unique voices and researching the history of Arabic music, and many names were proposed to me, and I found Mawwal, which was placed at the beginning of the series. Nawf al-Badawi, incidentally, had at that time set the main theme for the work bearing the name Assi, which I then began. By finding a way to connect old money to the theme.

He explained that this amalgamation of music, recorded at the Diab Mikri Studio in Turkey, brought together the tradition of carrying many ancient instruments and classical instruments, including the mazuz and bouzogi.

Sarhan confirmed his choice of Beed al-Ataba presented at the beginning of the series: “O Playa, you and I are companions of the path.” He felt that the story of the series had this beautiful meaning, and searched for it. He believed that the idea of ​​showing the series on the “Shahid” stage allows the author to handle the work and the idea with a lot of innovation, especially as many generations watch the work.

Sarhan studied at the Higher Institute of Music, this classical background had a significant influence on his works and compositions, as he would play international compositions in oriental bouzouki, and this orientation and educational background enabled him to present this music to audiences. He pointed out that the story of “The Zend” dates back to the beginning of the last century, and that the series was filmed in 2023, and that this was the deliberate use of modern instruments and contemporary language in the music along with the traditional, so what classical instruments were offered were grafted with oriental instruments to present an Arab character. He asserted that the Syrian story and its connection with the Arabian context made the presence of the Eastern context clear and dominant, and therefore it was strongly attended to in music by the Bayat, Hijaz and other maqams.

Sarhan noted that there are many songs in the series, especially in the Qajar tent clips, and he worked with sound designer Anas Hajjar to select the songs that could be presented in those scenes and the actual music for those songs. Up until 1900, the atmosphere was sometimes forced to collect songs to reflect the spirit of the era.
