Today, Thursday, Egypt revealed a hidden passage nine meters long and more than two meters wide in the Pyramid of Khufu (Great Pyramid) at Giza, near Cairo, as a result of an international research project. It has been going on for seven years.
“A cable corridor (a polygonal geometric design resembling the upper part of a triangle) has emerged on the north face of the Great Pyramid of King Khufu, which is 9 meters long and about 2.10 meters wide,” Tourism and Antiquities Minister Ahmed Isa said during a press conference in front of the Great Pyramid.
The discovery was made as part of a project Scan pyramids (“Scan Pyramids”), which was launched in 2015 under the supervision of the International Science and Archeology Committee headed by a former Egyptian minister, in collaboration with major international universities and a group of Egyptian experts from France, Germany, Canada and Japan. Antiques Zahi Hawass.
The project relies on studying the interior of the pyramid using advanced technology that does not require excavation, to find possible unknown voids or internal structures, and to try to discover construction methods that are still mysterious.
Khufu’s pyramid, also known as the Great Pyramid, is 146 meters long and is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was built 4,500 years ago on the Giza Plateau, west of Cairo. It has three wells. -Known chambers. Like other pyramids in Egypt, it was built as a tomb for the pharaoh.
And Khufu was the second king of the Fourth Egyptian Dynasty, which dates back to the twenty-sixth century BC.
Hawass said during the briefing, “It is very likely that this corridor is protecting something. My personal belief is that it could be King Khufu’s burial chamber.”
Hawass responded to recently circulating allegations, questioning whether the ancient Egyptians actually built the pyramids of Giza, saying, “I would like to take a stone from the Great Pyramid and put it in any person’s mouth. Who says this pyramid was built by aliens or an unknown civilization. This pyramid was built by them.” Ancient Egyptians,” points out the existence of papyrus documents that confirm this.
Theories are circulated from time to time in the world, some of which question the role of the ancient Egyptians in the creation of the pyramids, especially by the supporters of the “African central movement” (Afrocentric), who claim the origin of the Egyptian civilization. Africans, and only black Africans built the pyramids.
In 2017, the project revealed that the Great Pyramid contained a cavity the size of an airplane that could accommodate two hundred seats.
