DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — The Saudi Ministry of Health has commented on the recent outbreak of a new virus.
The Saudi Ministry of Health confirmed on Friday through its official Twitter account, “This matter is not true, explaining that there is a large group of respiratory viruses that cause colds, including a group that currently exists, like this one. Symptoms of seasonal flu, but less severe.
In another tweet, the Saudi Ministry of Health pointed out that more than 20 types of viruses that cause colds and flu are circulating during this period.
The most important of these viruses are:
- Rhinovirus:
Most common, this virus usually spreads in the spring and fall.
- Human parainfluenza virus:
It causes symptoms very similar to the flu. There are 4 species of this virus, one of which spreads in early summer and is present throughout the year.
- Respiratory syncytial virus:
The virus usually affects young adults and can cause asthma-like symptoms. It is present during most months of the year, but its incidence increases worldwide in autumn.
The ministry added that there is no cure for common cold, but pain relievers and antipyretics can be taken after consulting a doctor.
