Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Chef Michel Roux Jr. has announced that his two-star Michelin restaurant Le Gavroche in London will close permanently in January.
In a statement released last week, Roux, the Anglo-French television personality, announced his decision to close the luxury restaurant that his father Albert Roux opened with his uncle Michel Roux 56 years ago. Family.
Roux has appeared on television shows such as Chef Gordon Ramsay’s “Michel Roux’s French Country Cooking” and “Hell’s Kitchen.”
In the statement, Rowe Jr. wrote, “I know this will come as a shock to many of you, so please know that this decision was not made lightly,” and “I want to take the time to do a great job.” – Life Balance.”
“Le Gavroche means not just me and the Roux family, but the wider Gavroche team, and all of you, our guests, who have become family to us over the years,” emphasized the chef.
Rowe explained that the end of his current lease on the property in Mayfair gave him “an opportunity to assess and think about the future”, noting that he felt it was the right time to “turn the page and move on”.

Roux Jr., who has run the famed restaurant since 1991, noted that “Le Gavroche” closed at the height of its success and is still fully booked every week.
“I’m especially looking forward to welcoming as many of you as possible over the next few months,” he added.
Rowe Jr., who insisted the restaurant will “live” during pop-up restaurants and various events, admitted to mixed feelings about his decision.
The restaurant is famous for signature dishes such as “Soufflé Suissesse” and offers tasting menus in addition to a varied à la carte menu.
The restaurant is named after a character in the novel “Les Miserables” by French author Victor Hugo.
The restaurant opened in Sloane Square in 1968 and soon became the first restaurant in the UK to be awarded a Michelin star and the first to win a second star.
In 1982, after moving to Upper Brook Street in Mayfair, Le Gavroche became the first restaurant to achieve three Michelin stars, a position it held until 1993.
