A copy of the Mona Lisa has been auctioned off in Paris

Date:

A copy of the 400-year-old Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa will be auctioned off in Paris on Tuesday.

The original painting, purchased in 1518 from Francois I, King of France, is in the Louvre Museum in Paris and is not for sale.

But the fake painting, which went on sale on Tuesday, is about 1600 years old and looks exactly like the original, and the artist who painted it may have looked closely at the original painting, the ArtCurial auction house said.

The price of this painting is expected to be between 150,000 and 200,000 euros ($ 173,000 to $ 230,000).

In June, a European collector bought another copy of the Mona Lisa from the 17th century for 2.9 million euros ($ 3.4 million), a record for a copy of the Mona Lisa at auction in Christie’s, Paris.
