Algeria closes its airspace for two French military planes

Algeria closed its airspace to two French military planes a day after the ambassador to Paris was repeatedly summoned for comments made to President Emmanuel Macron.

The Bloomberg News Agency quoted French military spokesman Colonel Pascal Ianni as saying that permission had been denied and postponed on Sunday morning for two logistics support flights to the Sahel region of Africa via Algeria.

“We discovered this morning that Algeria would not allow the plane to fly over its territory,” Iani said, adding that the effect was partial and that French intelligence did not use Algerian airspace for the Sahel mission. It will not affect operations in the Sahal region and will not affect intelligence.

On Saturday, Algeria categorically rejected its “unacceptable interference in domestic affairs” against the backdrop of statements made to French President Emmanuel Macron covering hidden allegations of political and military rule in Algeria.

Algerian President Abdelmadzit Deboun today decided to summon the Algerian ambassador to France to “face the particularly unacceptable situation of these irresponsible statements (due to Macron)”.

The decision to invite Algeria to its ambassador to Paris came after reports by French President Emmanuel Macron spread through the French media. Their country. “
