Google is developing custom processors for Chromebooks

According to the Arab Portal for Technology News, the company is intensifying efforts to develop mobile processors for Pixel smartphones and other devices, announcing the use of internal processor chips for the first time in the upcoming Pixel 6 series.

At a time when global competitors are following a similar strategy to differentiate their offers, the company is becoming more focused on creating its own chips.

Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, Tesla, Baidu and Alibaba are in the race to build their own semiconductors to support their cloud services and electronic products.

Google was particularly impressed with the success of Apple in developing its core semiconductor components for the iPhone, as well as announcing last year that it would replace Intel processors for Mac laptops and desktops.

New processors and mobile processors developed by Google are based on the chipset programs of the British chip company Arm, which is controlled by SoftBank, which uses its intellectual property on more than 90% of the world’s mobile devices.

Separately, the company has high hopes for the Pixel 6 range and has asked suppliers to prepare phones with 50 percent more productivity in 2019 compared to the pre-infection level.

Google shipped more than 7 million pixel phones in 2019, the highest number ever. According to research firm IDC, 3.7 million phones were shipped next year.

The company has told many suppliers in recent meetings that it sees tremendous growth potential in the global market because it is the only smartphone maker in the United States that makes smartphones using the Android operating system.
