The official Syrian news agency (SANA) said air defense repulsed an Israeli missile strike in the capital Damascus early Friday morning.
“At 1:26 a.m. today (Friday), the Israeli enemy launched an air strike from the southeastern part of Beirut, targeting some points near the city of Damascus,” the agency said, citing unnamed military sources.
The source confirmed that “air defense confronted the occupation missiles and shot down most of them.”
He added, “Losses are material only.”
And through its YouTube account, the company released air defense videos of missiles facing Damascus.
Israel routinely launches raids in Syria, targeting Syrian military bases, Iranian targets and Lebanese Hezbollah targets.
Last August 20, Israeli attacks on Syria destroyed the Hezbollah arsenal, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported at the time.
The director of the laboratory, Rami Abdel Rahman, said in a television report that three missiles and an arsenal belonging to the Lebanese Hezbollah had been targeted in the Kara area of Damascus, near the administrative border of the Holmes governorate.
Israel rarely confirms the implementation of attacks in Syria, but the Israeli military said in its annual report that it had bombed about 50 targets in Syria by 2020.
Israel reiterates that it continues to confront its military presence in Syria as described as Iranian efforts.
