A paperless initiative
As part of its efforts to reduce the use of papers, in early 2023, Hyatt launched a paperless initiative at all hotels in Dubai, after which these hotels began efforts to digitize their documents. As of August 2023, ten hotels in Dubai have printed 1.4 million fewer sheets compared to the same period last year, resulting in a 48% reduction in sheets printed during the summer season. In November 2023, Grand Hyatt Dubai achieved its goal of going completely paperless within a period of less than 12 months, paving the way for sustainable and innovative operational practices. As for the remaining nine hotels in the city, they are expected to achieve a similar target by December 31, 2023.

Hyatt hotels in Dubai have adopted the use of digital business cards and QR code-based menus in their guest rooms and restaurants, eliminating the need to use traditional paper alternatives. Also, these hotels have started using digital records to track guest requests, guest check-ins and room updates.

Reduce the use of single-use plastics
Hyatt is making significant progress in its commitment to environmental sustainability by implementing various initiatives aimed at reducing plastic use across all hotels in Dubai, underscoring the company's commitment to eco-friendly practices and responsible hospitality. Hyatt Hotels in Dubai also strives to preserve the beauty of the natural environment as Park Hyatt Dubai cleans Dubai Creek every 4 months to remove plastic waste from its banks.

Also, many restaurants within these hotels have taken steps to provide single-use plastic straws, replacing them with 100% biodegradable #iamnotplastic straws. These restaurants are working to replace plastic cutlery and take-out containers with more sustainable wooden alternatives.

As a step to reduce the use of single-use plastics, Hyatt Place hotels have installed bulk dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash in all bathrooms and shower areas in guest rooms. Similarly, Hyatt Centric Jumeirah has distributed The BeeKind® Collection products in all guest rooms, which are gentle on the skin and free from harmful substances such as parabens, phthalates, benzene, mineral oil, urea or derivatives derived from diethanolamine or triethylamine or propylene. Glycol is packaged in recyclable containers. The Hyatt Regency Creek Heights hotel replaced plastic laundry bags with biodegradable ones in an effort to reinforce its commitment to environmental sustainability.
