“Because She Was Creative” initiative highlights the next generation of creative and talented Arab women at the Red Sea International Film Festival

Women storytellers have exceptional stories, and giving them the opportunity to tell them in their own voice and share them in their own style provides a cultural space to present authentic and authentic stories that have never been told before.

So, this year, at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, the Netflix platform reserved a place to celebrate the spirit of creativity and leadership of three outstanding female filmmakers from the Arab world. Voices and communicating them to an audience of experts working in the field, in addition to… inspiring future generations of storytellers.
The “Because She Was Creative” initiative is an innovative festival celebrating women who have made their mark on the Arab entertainment industry over the years, while highlighting the importance of women’s role in promoting the growth and enrichment of the Arab entertainment industry. Fatima Al Banawi, Haya Abdel Salam and Adwa Badr

The list of participating Arab women inventors includes:

  • Atwa Badr, Saudi-American artist and heroine of the Saudi movie “Nakala”.
  • Fatima Al Banawi is a Saudi writer who directed, acted and wrote Basma.
  • Haya Abdel Salam, lead actress and producer of the Kuwaiti series “The Devil’s Advocate”.

Noha Al-Tayeb, head of content for Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, Netflix, revealed the initiative: “The ‘Because She Made’ initiative is always an opportunity for us to highlight a great woman.
