“Art Dubai” announces the list of participating international art galleries

More than 100 galleries will participate in this edition in its four sections: Contemporary, Modern, Gateway and Art Dubai Digital, the only section of any major international art fair dedicated to digital art.

“Art Dubai” seeks to expand participation in the “Global South” beyond traditional geographic and economic boundaries, focusing on the shared history and unique stories of communities around the world, from Delhi and Cairo to Bogotá and Guatemala. A history of communities and immigrants from global centers such as London, Paris and New York.

The “Art Dubai Contemporary” section presents the best contemporary art from around the world, with a focus on art and artists from the Global South. In its seventeenth session, the fair welcomes 100 exhibitors from more than 60 cities across five continents.

The exhibition features 21 exhibitors from Dubai, representing the largest participation to date and reflecting the emirate’s continued growth as a global cultural hub. The “Portal” section focuses on solo shows by artists from the Global South, and includes artworks produced for the exhibition or in the preceding 12 months, and is curated by Emiliano Valdés, Chief Curator of the Museum of Modern Art in Medellin. Colombia.

The 2024 edition of the Gateway exhibition is titled “Sanation” or Healing, and presents artistic practices that explore the stages of healing on a personal and spiritual level, and on social, historical and political levels, and examine methods. These different steps of the healing process are related.

A selection of ten individual projects will highlight artists who think of art as a place for messaging, healing and unity. At the same time, they engage in critical dialogue, performing visions of society and social justice. Through a variety of media including painting, sculpture, video and performance, these works explore the ways in which art can act as a catalyst for change and positive change, comparing how these processes change from one country to another or from one person to another. .

In support of Art Dubai’s commitment to presenting global and diverse perspectives, Art Dubai Digital invites visitors to look beyond traditional art centers and models.
