(CNN) — It’s safe to say England striker Harry Kane is enjoying life in Germany. The England captain made a high-profile move from boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich last August and hasn’t looked back.
After scoring a brace against Heidenheim last Saturday, the English striker took his tally in the German league to 17 goals this season, more than any player in the competition’s first 11 matches, and is the former top scorer. “Bavarian” team, Robert Lewandowski had previously scored 16 goals.
Kane, the top scorer in the German league, also scored 4 goals in the Champions League, while his side did not drop any points in the group stage.
Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund said after Harry Kane’s double in the team’s 4-2 win over Heidenheim: “It’s impressive. He’s playing outside the United Kingdom for the first time and then scored like this… he’s a phenomenon.”
Kane was one of the English Premier League’s top scorers of all time and was considered a world-class talent before his move to Germany, but it was unclear whether he could perform at this level.
The 30-year-old has set a record by answering that question definitively.
Harry Kane is more than just a top scorer in the Bundesliga, making an impression on his new teammates with his goal-scoring prowess.
“He can do anything”
“Kane, I think he can do anything,” Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller told Reuters, adding: “We have to put him in his position. If he can shoot anywhere near or inside the penalty area, the ball… is likely to hit the goal. .
Kane will join the England squad this weekend for two internationals against Malta and North Macedonia before returning to Germany.
Despite his record-breaking achievements, Harry Kane is yet to win a major title in his career, but he is determined to change that this season.
Kane said: “Of course, the team deserves all the thanks. They give me opportunities. I enjoy playing in this team.”
