Organizers of the demonstration ignored appeals by the British Metropolitan Police to postpone the demonstration, which had been planned for next Saturday.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to take part in demonstrations on the streets of London demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

“We continue to believe that planning protests on Armistice Day is provocative and disrespectful, and we ask the organizers to reconsider,” Sunak’s spokesman told reporters.

He added that the government would carefully consider any request by the police to prevent the continuation of the protest.

Some observers fear Saturday’s demonstration could disrupt commemoration of “Remembrance Day,” which also falls on Sunday and includes two minutes of silence in honor of dead British soldiers.

Organizers have not indicated whether they plan to hold demonstrations on Sunday or on “Remembrance Day,” the culmination of celebrations honoring veterans of previous wars.

Organizers have vowed to avoid the Whitehall area of ​​central London, where the monument is located.

Notably, Israel was founded in 1948 on occupied Arab land and annexed Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1967. A week ago, Israel launched a ground operation in Gaza and vowed to continue it until Hamas was eliminated, but it acknowledged painful losses in lives and equipment.
