After singing for Jerusalem… Muhammad Mounir renews his support for Palestinians with new work

The artist Mohamed Mounir decided to leave Germany in the last few hours and return to the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to produce a new song for the benefit of the children of Gaza, expressing his solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Rejecting the attacks and violations committed by the Israeli army of occupation against the Palestinian people.

One of Mounir’s close associates revealed the surprise to his fans when he posted a picture on his Facebook account on the plane, explaining that he was preparing in the coming hours to record a new song supporting the Palestinian cause.

The news sparked conversation among his fans, especially since this is not the first time he has presented a work of art condemning the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Mounir was one of the first singers of his generation to sing for Jerusalem with a song titled “Jerusalem”, in which he collaborated with the poet Makti Naguib and the composer Hani Shenouda. It was supposed to be released in 1977, but the political circumstances at the time did not allow it, and it was signed, for the Egyptian and Israeli sides. Camp David Accords between, but it was released in 1986 on his album “Innocent”.

Mounir sang through his play “The King is the King” for the Palestinian uprising in 1987, at which time he performed a song written by poet Ahmad Fouad Najm, the lyrics of which read: “Oh, how much love, oh how much love there is for me, candles, and No mean rule over me.” And he sang it pretending to throw stones like the Palestinians.

In 2018, Mounir released the song “Taq Taqiyya” written by poet Ahmad Marzooq and composed by Muhammad Rahim.
