“Goodbye Julia” continues to be an international hit

Sudanese film “Goodbye Julia” directed by Mohamed Kortobani and producer Amjad Abu Al-Ala, which continues to garner success and acclaim during its global screening tour, has announced that the London Film Festival will premiere the film in the United States. During the festival, Kingdom pointed out that tickets for the film screening were sold out a month before its 67th edition (October 4 – 15).

On the other hand, the film received 7 nominations at Septimus International Awards held in the Dutch capital Amsterdam. Nominations: Best African Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and two nominations for Best African Actress (Iman Youssef and Seren Rigg), Best Cinematography and Best Soundtrack.

The film had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard competition at the Cannes International Film Festival, where it won the Freedom Prize. It also participated in Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival.
Since its release at the Cannes Film Festival, it has been praised by international media. Fabien Lemercier wrote on the Synorpa website, “The director explores the conflicts in his country through an intimate women’s story.” French website AFP described the film. A “brave show,” Hovaida Hamdi said of the film, “a poem.” Quiet, his verses attempt to dispel chronic complexes and the history of intolerance and racism.

“Goodbye, Julia” is produced by famous Sudanese director Amjad Abu Al-Aala, who represented Sudan in the 2020 Best Foreign Film Oscar nomination for the first time in history with the film You’ll Die at Twenty. -Produced by Mohamed Al-Omda through Sudanese production company Station Films, and MAD Solutions is responsible for the film’s international sales.
