Emirates News Agency – Dubai hotel industry prepares to welcome Expo visitors

Dubai, August 7, 2021 (WAM) – Dubai’s hospitality industry is gearing up for Expo 2020, the largest and most important event in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Recovery from COVID-19 is accelerating around the world and the UAE is preparing to celebrate its golden jubilee.

With the theme of Expo 2020, “Connecting the Mind, Creating the Future”, with one or more of its sub-themes, Dubai welcomes visitors from all over the world to create a new world, bringing the planet in one place to rethink the future.

The service and business sectors of the United Arab Emirates, led by the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism industry, have worked tirelessly to provide a safe, inspiring and memorable experience for visitors to the Expo during the six months of the global event.

Wego, who specializes in travel services and online booking, said many countries are looking forward to the start of Expo 2020 in Dubai. The company revealed that it saw approximately 533,000 searches through its website in July on flights and hotels during the event period.

Indicating the increase in demand in Dubai and the rapid recovery of the business tourism sector, in light of the preparations for Dubai Expo 2020, hotels have started allocating packages and offers for visitors to the exhibition. The company said.

The Dubai Tourism and Business Marketing Department revealed that as of May 2021, there were 128,545 hotel rooms in Dubai. There were 715 hotel companies, including 1315 five-star hotels.

Dubai Tourism statistics show that the Emirate has 2.06 million international visitors staying overnight from January to May 2021.

The Emirate is one of the largest hotel rooms in the world, according to a study by travel site Insider Monkey. There are 100,000 hotel rooms for visitors in Dubai.

There are hotels in Dubai such as Burj Al Arab and The Address, and seven of the 12 tallest hotels in the world, including Gevora Hotel (356.3 m), JW Marriott Marquis Dubai (355 m), Hotel and SLS Dubai. Apartments (336 m), Rose Royhan Rotana (333 m), Burj Al Arab (321 m), Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel (309 m) and Millennium Plaza (294 m).

Despite the challenge and impact of COVID-19 on global tourism and travel, Dubai’s hotel industry is building more hotels.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be the largest cultural gathering in the world and will provide 182 days of exciting experiences. More than 200 companies will help create the largest and most diverse version of this experience, including countries, multidisciplinary companies, businesses and educational institutions and millions of visitors.
