These destinations include a series of new theme parks that have opened around the world in the past two years.
Here are some new must-see parks to create unforgettable family memories.
Kathmandu Park in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Experience the hidden worlds of the Himalayas amidst the Caribbean at Kathmandu Park in Punta Cana.
Opened in March 2023 on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, this park is full of mysteries and legends.
Immersing guests in this magical world, Kathmandu Park goes beyond traditional roller coasters and specializes in interactive and technologically advanced rides.
Super Nintendo World, California, USA
A year after Universal Studios Japan opened in 2021, the world of Super Nintendo arrives at Universal Studios Hollywood in February 2023.
Guests enter the Mushroom Kingdom via the game’s famous green tube.
Once inside, visitors will discover a world of fun experiences that include meeting their favorite characters and eating fun foods.
Ghibli Garden, Japan
If you’re a fan of Studio Ghibli’s animated films (anime) like the Oscar-winning “Spirited Away,” this new park is for you.
Ghibli Gardens is located outside of Nagoya, Japan and opened in late 2022 in Japan’s Aichi Prefecture covering 17.5 hectares of the Expo 2005 grounds.
Visitors will find five zones that recreate many famous scenes from the studio’s films in beautiful and detailed fashion.
Legoland Korea Resort, South Korea
Following the debut of Legoland New York in 2021, Legoland Resort Korea is slated to open in May 2022.
This fun wonderland in Chuncheon is all about Lego bricks, with more than 40 rides and attractions in seven themed zones.
At Bricktopia, guests can enjoy family-friendly rides, visit the LEGOLAND Lookout for great views of the destination, and learn about creative workshops and an area where race cars are built and tested.
Columbia Pictures Aquavers Water Park, Thailand
In Asia, Columbia Pictures’ Aquaverse Water Park is one of the most exciting openings in 2022.
Located along the coast near Pattaya, this water park features rides and experiences inspired by the popular Columbia Pictures films “Jumanji” and “Ghostbusters.”
Here you can expect everything from rainbow-colored slides, surfing games, and a “Hotel Transylvania” area.
And for those who prefer not to get wet, visitors can try the go-kart, a miniature golf course inspired by the animated movie “The Emoji Movie.”
Lotte World Busan, South Korea
Almost three decades after opening its flagship park in Seoul, Lotte World expanded in March 2022 with the opening of a second location, Lotte World Adventures, in Busan on the country’s southeast coast.
Embodying a colorful fairy-tale atmosphere, the amusement park offers European-inspired gardens, wide-open squares, magnificent fountains, in addition to an array of exciting games and attractions.
And in the “River Village of Tinker Falls” area, visitors can enjoy meeting a host of characters, including a giant talking tree and adorable forest creatures.
Peppa Pig’s amusement park in Florida, USA
Peppa Pig Farm is open The world’s first amusement park opened last year in Winter Haven, Florida, and the destination hasn’t stopped entertaining kids since then.
The garden is inspired by a British cartoon series in which a little pig named Peppa goes on daily adventures with her friends and family.
The 4.5 acre park welcomes younger guests with specially designed multi-sensory activities in 6 zones.
Kids will enjoy Peppa’s pedal bike tour around the camp-inspired track, Muddy Puddles splash area and interactive stage shows.
For kids ready for their first roller coaster, the “Daddy Big” ride takes families on a thrilling ride in a red buggy.
Genting Skyworlds Theme Park, Malaysia
Genting Skyworlds opens in February 2022 at Resorts World Genting.
The park covers an area of 26 acres, cost $800 million, and took about a decade to build.
Inside, visitors can find 9 movie-inspired areas and 26 locations in the animated film “Rio” and discovery tours such as “Central Park”, “Andromeda Base”, “Robots’ Revit Town”.
