Organized within the framework of the tenth edition of the “Theatrical Show Elements Course” held annually by the Sharjah Department of Culture in conjunction with the Kalba Short Drama Festival, the director’s workshop concluded at the Cultural Center in Kalba. . At the end, the director of the festival, Ahmed Burhaima, director of the theater department of the Department of Culture, was present.
Supervised by Emirati director Hassan Rajab, the workshop, attended by (55) practitioners, included a series of theoretical lectures on the history, foundations and methods of theater movement. Skills in stage engineering through acting performance, set design, lighting and sound effects.
Hassan Ragab said, “His training program focuses on introducing the participants to the principles of the art of movement, from the director’s communication to the various elements of the theatrical work such as the text, the acting team and the technicians. The way he works with the devices and spaces of the stage and all the ways he collides with the audience.” He called upon all the participants to improve their knowledge and theater experience through reading and reciting, to be eager to watch shows, to show self-confidence, patience and avoid being in a rush for fame.
Appreciating the efforts of the workshop supervisor, Parhima awarded certificates of participation to the trainees, which started on the third of this month.
More than thirty directors are starting preparations for their performances to apply to participate in the Kalpa Short Film Festival, the tenth session of which begins on September 22.
