Saudi Al-Eqbariya channel reported early on Friday that Algerian Manchester City striker Riyad Mahrez had completed his transfer to Saudi Al-Ahly.
Al-Eqbariya channel tweeted, “Algerian Riyad Mahrez is new player for Al-Ahly club from European champions Manchester City.”
The channel did not immediately disclose other details
On Thursday, the BBC reported that Manchester City had agreed to transfer their Algerian star to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli for £30m.
He added that Mahrez, 32, had been cleared to travel with his squad to Japan and South Korea for the pre-season camp.
Saudi newspaper, Al-Riyadiya, reported a few days ago that Al-Ahly had reached a “final agreement” with Zida Mahrez and that “contracts will be signed after passing medical tests”.
And he explained that the Manchester City star will join the away team’s camp after formal integration.
Earlier news reports indicated that the 32-year-old Saudi club had attempted to secure his services after succeeding in signing Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino and Chelsea’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
After the “Fox” won the English Premier League Championship for the first time in the club’s history in the 2015-2016 season, Mahrez accomplished many feats during his time in England, notably known as the “Miracle of Leicester City”.
The Algerian star contributed greatly to achieving that “miracle” and was rewarded for his efforts by winning the title of best player in the English Premier League after that historic feat.
Mahrez won the English League Cup 4 times with the “Citizens” and contributed to Manchester City’s first title in the Champions League last season.
The Algerian striker scored 15 goals for his side in the 47 matches he played last season, which ended up being a historic treble.
