The Cofitis Team rider covered the 168.8 km between Rouen and Belleville in 3:51.42 hours, 58 seconds ahead of Frenchman Mathieu Porgotto and American Matteo Jorgensen to take his second victory in Tour history. Morzine in 2016. He also won stages in the Italian and Spanish tours.
Esakiri (34 years old) gave Spain his second victory in the current edition of the Tour, while the other Basque, Pio Bilbao, succeeded in reaching the tenth stage on Tuesday, giving his country his first victory since 2018.
It was the second win for Cofidis in this edition, with Frenchman Victor Lafay ending a 15-year drought for the northern side by winning the second stage.
Wingegard finished the stage in sixteenth place, 4:14 minutes behind Isagiri, while maintaining a 17-second gap over twelfth-placed Slovenian Tadi Bokachar.
The thirteenth stage will take place on Friday between Chatillon-sur-Salaron and Gran Colombier, a distance of 138 km.
