“The Little Mermaid” movie from the “Disney” studio took the first place at the box office in North America, it was shown in the first weekend, according to the specialized agency “Experience Relations”.

The film grossed $117.5 million at the box office in the United States and Canada, while grossing $68 million worldwide.

The film is based on the popular 1989 animated story and is set in the 1830s on a fictional island in the Caribbean. 18-year-old mermaid Ariel (played by Halle Bailey), the youngest of seven daughters of King Triton (Javier Bardem), who rules the seas from an underwater kingdom.

Curious and always fascinated by the human world, Ariel makes a pact with her aunt, the sea witch Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), to discover life on Earth.

Franchise Entertainment Research analyst David A. Gross pointed out that “Disney has been creating an allegory of animated stories in films with real actors for decades,” but he pointed out that the results it showed in its opening weekend for “The Little Mermaid” were poor. More than “The Line King” achieved in 2018. 2019 ($191.8 million), and “Beauty and the Beast” in 2017 ($174.8 million).

And “Fast X” took second place with $29.5 million, less than half of what “Fast and the Furious” achieved the previous weekend, which took first place.
