The Shah of Iran’s son announced his visit to Israel with his wife to commemorate the Holocaust.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN)- Reza Pahlavi, the son of the late Shah of Iran, announced on Monday that he had visited Israel with his wife.

In a tweet attached to the photo on his official Twitter page, Reza Pahlavi said, “Jasmin (his wife) and I came to Israel. We are very happy to be here and dedicated to working for a peaceful and prosperous future for the people. Our part is worthy. We will build this future together, in friendship.”

He added in another tweet: “It is very important for me to be here on Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel. Today, I join Holocaust survivors and their families to help preserve the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. As author Elie Wiesel said, there is no hope without memory.”

In an earlier tweet on Sunday, Reza Pahlavi said on Twitter: “I am going to Israel with a message of friendship for the Iranian people, and to ask for expert opinions on the water issue and ways to counter the Iranian regime’s neglect of water sources. , and to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust on the anniversary of the Holocaust.”

Reza Pahlavi, the son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last shah of Iran before the Islamic Revolution in 1979, is considered the most important Iranian person to visit Israel.

Israeli government sources said in a statement that the purpose of Reza Pahlavi’s visit was to “establish a bridge between Israel and the Iranian people and express common opposition to the Ayatollah’s regime.”

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Khanani declined to discuss the matter when asked about the visit of exiled Reza Pahlavi at a press conference. “Neither the person in question, the purpose of this visit, nor the destination he intends to travel to is worthy of discussion,” he said.
