A video of an Algerian imam and a cat climbing on his shoulders during the Tarawih prayer has gone viral on social media, garnering over 100,600,000 views within 48 hours. The video was sent from all over the world and even from different religions. It was also rebroadcast by Western media, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the American CNN and others.

As a result, the Algerian Ministry of Religious Affairs honored Imam Walid Mahass for his kindness in handling a cat that climbed onto his shoulder during prayer.

The Algerian Association of Muslim Scholars occupied Cat’s visual channels and roused sites worldwide.

And a video clip of the moment when the cat climbed on the shoulder of the Algerian imam and his attention during the prayer was widely circulated, so that he did not turn away from it or get angry, but treated it gently and gently.

Activists of all intellectual levels and religious persuasions celebrated the great resonance achieved by the spontaneous clip, emphasizing that it had a profound message.

With a simple, spontaneous movement, the clip flew from Algeria, between the sides of Chechnya in the east, to American positions in the west, according to prominent Egyptian activist Abdullah al-Sherif.

The Egyptian activist added: “Sheikh al-Tayyib spoiled the written texts, hired stars, sold out rehearsals and spent millions on free photography, free advertising and a cat.”

While some voiced that the video was ordinary and nothing interesting, others insisted that the imam’s behavior was a reflection of religion and faith.

Sheikh Walid Mahassas was born in Algeria and is the imam of the Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque on a 12-hectare site in Bourdge Bou Areridge state in eastern Algeria.

He has been classified as one of the most beautiful voices for reciting the Noble Qur’an, and he regularly conducts Qur’an evenings for memorizing and reciting the Qur’an in the “Barem Al-Biban” competition.

He presents Friday prayer sermons and special lectures explaining Islamic religion and jurisprudence, including those related to parental justice.
