Chelsea qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating German side Borussia Dortmund with two unanswered goals in the second leg of the round of 16 of the European Football Champions League.

The “Blues” avenged the defeat by a goal in the first leg, and won 2-1 on aggregate in the first and second legs.

Chelsea won with goals from Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling in each half respectively, with the referee disallowing two goals in England’s favour.

Sterling put Chelsea ahead with a goal a minute before the end of the first half, then Howards added a second from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute.

In Lisbon, Portugal’s Benfica qualified for the same role by beating Belgian club Brugge 5-1.

Benfica won by two goals at the end of the first leg, giving Portugal a 7-1 aggregate advantage over the two matches.

Rafa Silva went ahead with a goal for Benfica in the 38th minute, and in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Goncalo Ramos took on the Championship role, scoring the second goal for Benfica before the same player came back to score his second and Benfica’s third in the 57th minute.

Benfica won the penalty kick from which Joao Mario scored Portugal’s fourth goal in the 71st minute.

Benfica scored their fifth goal in the 78th minute through David Nerez. Bjorn Meyer scored the only goal for Club Brugge two minutes before the end of the match.
