DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — The UAE’s Ministry of Interior announced Friday that six deaths have been reported as a result of heavy rains in the emirates of Ras Al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Fujairah.

Brigadier General Dr. Ali Salem Al Tunaiji, Director General of Central Federal Operations at the UAE Ministry of Interior, said in a video clip on recent field developments in light of the prevailing weather that efforts to restore normalcy are ongoing. Life in areas affected by torrential rains that have hit some emirates in the past, namely: Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Fujairah.

“Field units are still carrying out evacuations in some of these areas and shelters of some individuals have been affected by the torrential rains,” he said, adding, “Approximately 80% of individuals’ houses have been affected by flooding and flooding in the past few days.”

He continued, “We are saddened to report that 6 Asians have died as a result of the floods in this emirate and the search for another Asian is still ongoing in some regions. Emirates.”

“Efforts are still ongoing and the teams are still performing their duties and these authorities will be able to reach the recovery stage and return to normalcy in the coming period,” he stressed. Also, “few roads have been opened between the affected areas of the emirates, and only one main road connecting Fujairah emirate and Khor Faqan city, and the works are being opened within a short period of time.”
