Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is looking at his Manchester United side from the past after he went almost two months since the end of the season without being at the team’s headquarters or with the club as it began its summer preparations.
British journalist Piers Morgan, one of Ronaldo’s friends, revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not play for Manchester United again and has mentally prepared himself to leave the red team, according to English radio station “Talk Sport”. That he would move to a “surprising” team.
The Portugal striker announced his intention to leave Manchester United a year before the end of his contract after spending just one season in England, especially after they failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League. He never failed in his life.
Ronaldo has been linked with several clubs since the end of last May, most notably Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Spain, Paris Saint-Germain and England’s Chelsea, all of whom have indicated they have refused to confirm interest. In signing him, the 5-time Golden Ball winner’s options are limited in the middle of the summer transfer window.
His Manchester United squad’s summer preparations for next season began with his departure to Thailand and Australia, and Ronaldo has so far refused to attend for family reasons, he said.
Ronaldo and Morgan on the previous occasion
Piers Morgan contacted the Portuguese star several times last week, saying, “I think Ronaldo’s time at Manchester United is up. I spoke to him at length last week and it was clear to me that mentally he is beyond the level of Manchester United,” his interview with Radio TalkSport.
He added: “If you’re in his position at the end of your career, but you still want to win big trophies, you have to think a bit and ask yourself: am I going to achieve that with Manchester United?” He thinks the club’s top-down structure is not right, not because of Dutch coach Den Haag, whom he respects a lot, but because of what is happening in the team now in the current situation.
Morgan added: “Tell him how he feels at the end, but if you ask me, I don’t think he’ll be at Manchester United.
And Morgan tried to convince Ronaldo to go to his favorite club Arsenal: I think he will end up at a club that will surprise everyone and all Arsenal fans should know that I will do everything I can to move him. Let’s not forget that the Londoner was close to a move under the Frenchman’s leadership when he was 18 years old.
Manchester United’s new coach Den Haag revealed in more than one press conference that the Portuguese star is not for sale: I haven’t spoken to Ronaldo yet, I don’t know when he will return to training, but he is training. And we all know Ronaldo is very professional and fit, so this worries me a lot.
