Manchester United have signed Danish international midfielder Christian Eriksen on a three-year deal.

Manchester United on Friday announced the signing of Danish international midfielder Christian Eriksen on a three-year contract, 12 months after the player collapsed on the field during the European Cup of Nations “Euro 2020” tournament.

Eriksen, 30, spent the second half of last season in Brentford’s line-up, where he returned to the pitches after months of suffering a heart attack while participating in one of his country’s matches at Euro 2020.

Eriksen, who spent seven years with Tottenham, became Manchester United’s second major signing under new manager Erik ten Hoag, with the club also signing left-back Tyrrell Malaysia from Feyenoord.

“Manchester United is a club in a special place and I’m looking forward to starting my career with it,” Eriksen said.

“I have had the honor of playing at Old Trafford many times, but to play on this pitch in the red shirt of Manchester United would be amazing for me.”

“I still have big ambitions in the game, I know I can achieve even bigger things and this is the right place to continue my journey.”

On 12 June 2021, Eriksson suffered a heart attack in the first half of Denmark’s match against Finland in the group stage of Euro 2020 on 12 June 2021.

After being treated on the field, Eriksen underwent a pacemaker procedure, which meant he was not allowed to play with his then team Inter Milan in Serie A.

Eriksen signed for Brentford last January and returned to football on 26 February, where he came on as a second-half substitute against Newcastle.

Eriksen made good offers with Brentford, attracting the interest of Manchester United, who signed a contract until 2025.
