The Polish national football team has dropped Mache Repos from its rankings at the World Cup after Russia’s Spartak moved to Moscow.
The 66-caps defender has spent the past five years in Russia with the locomotive Moscow, moving to his traditional neighbor in a free exchange.
As Repos decided to stay in Russia, his teammates Grigors Krichoviak and Sebastian Simansky decided to leave Russia, where the former AEK signed a short loan agreement until the end of the season in Athens last March.
In light of the Russo-Ukrainian war last February, Poland refused to face Russia in the World Cup qualifiers last March.
The Polish Football Association said in a statement: “The coach of the Polish national team Cheslav Miknevich spoke with Macie Repos, who is currently in Poland, after the end of the team’s camp last week.”
The statement added: “Under the current circumstances, he will not be invited to the national team camp next September and will not be part of the squad for the World Cup in Qatar.” The list has been announced.
The Polish national team, which will play against Mexico on November 22 before facing Saudi Arabia and Argentina, is in Group C of this year’s World Cup.
