A White House official has announced that a private plane crashed into the house of U.S. President Joe Biden over the weekend, saying it was not an attack and that precautionary measures had been taken.
President Biden and his wife were briefly relocated before returning to their home at the coastal resort of Rehoboth, about two hundred miles east of Washington.
Asked not to be identified, a White House official said Biden and his wife were safe.
“Shortly before 13:00 (17:00 GMT), a private plane entered restricted airspace on Rehopot and accidentally entered a safe area,” the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement.
“The plane was immediately ejected from the restricted airspace,” he added.
The report continued: “Preliminary investigation shows that the pilot did not use the correct radio channel, did not respect the instructions of the authorities and did not follow the announced route.”
The report states that the pilot will be interrogated by the secret service.
