The Saudi Film Festival kicked off its eighth session on Thursday evening with the participation of 80 Saudi and Gulf films at the King Abdul Aziz World Cultural Center “Idra” in Tehran.
36 films between length and short films, in addition to 44 films in the parallel project, are competing for prizes, including eight Gulf films.

The inaugural ceremony also honored the late Saudi actor Khalil al-Rawaf (1895-2000) and the late Kuwaiti director and producer Khalid al-Siddiq (1945-2021). Names of works that won the unimplemented script contest that received 235 participants.

The event, which runs until June 9, features four seminars: “Saudi Storyteller in Cinema”, “Concept of Saudi Film”, “Poetry and Aesthetics of Cinema” and “Legal Dealing with Global Broadcasting Platforms”. Publication of six specialized workshops and 14 books.

The opening ceremony was hosted by actor Ibrahim Hajjaj and actress Sarah Taiba. After the opening ceremony, the short film “An Old Phone Number” written and directed by Ali Saeed was screened at its world premiere.
