The King Abdul Aziz Center for World Culture “Idra” and the Cinema Society are launching the eighth Saudi Film Festival tomorrow with the support of the Film Commission of the Ministry of Culture, with the participation of local, Gulf and international filmmakers and actors. At the Idra Theater in Tehran.
During the eight-day festival, 80 films will be screened on four tracks, of which 28 films will compete in the short film competition, while 8 films will compete in the long film competition, 44 co-events, and 12 of them will fall under the category of Poetry Cinema.
The event will feature five workshops in the fields of motion, acting, production, distribution and sound recording, as well as nine seminars on film screenings, film production in Saudi cinema, Saudi cinema, cinematic poetry and its concepts. “Master class” seminar on aesthetics, as well as legal transactions on global broadcast sites. The seminars are set to begin next Saturday under the title “Saudi Novel in Cinema”, the second seminar will be on Sunday “The Concept of Saudi Film” and the third seminar will be on Monday “Poetry and its Aesthetics of Cinema”, and the festival will conclude its seminars on Tuesday with “Legal Deals with Global Broadcasting Sites”.
This year’s festival begins with the movie “Old Phone Number” written and directed by Ali Saeed and starring Yaqub Al-Farhan. The script that held the ceremony in the previous session won the award for best short film script at the lab. .
