The African Football Confederation (CAF) has announced that the final of the current edition of the African Champions League will take place on May 30 at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
The CAF said in a statement on its website: “The previous leadership of the African Football Confederation decided on July 17, 2019 that the winner of the African Champions League would be decided by a match instead of the regular home and outfield final.”
He added, “The African Football Confederation has received an opportunity from Senegal and the Moroccan federation to host the 2022 African Champions League final. After that the Senegalese Federation withdrew its offer.”
“Therefore, the African Football Confederation is pleased to host Morocco for the 2022 African Champions League Final,” he added.
The final is scheduled to bring together the qualifiers of the Egyptian Al-Ahly meet, the Algerian ES Setif team in the first semi-final, and the top players in the semifinals in the second match of the Moroccan Widat and Angolan Pedro Atletico. .
Al-Ahly defeated his guest ES Setif in the first leg of the semifinals, while Wydad returned with a valuable victory from its host Petro Atlético 3-1.
It is noteworthy that al-Ahly and the Egyptian Football Association protested the final in Morocco and called on CAF officials to hold the match at a neutral venue (postponed to the semi-finals).
