How much did the Corona “Bundesliga” cost in two seasons? .. Shocking amount!

The new head of the German football league revealed on Friday that total revenue had fallen by more than one billion euros in the two seasons devastated by the corona virus.

According to the German Football Association, revenues for the first and second seasons for the 2020-2021 season fell from 4.8 billion euros to 4.05 billion euros.
“Kovit has already made a significant economic impact on the Bundesliga over the past two seasons,” said Donata Hoffen, the league’s new chief executive.
He continued, “In total, the revenue decline exceeded one billion euros in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 after two seasons of being infected with the corona virus.”
Compared to the record for the 2018-2019 season, German Bundesliga revenue fell by more than 16%, to over 50 750 million.
According to the German Football Association’s economic report for 2022, competitive revenue, especially ticket sales, fell 95% from 650 million euros in the previous season to 35.5 million euros.
Two years after the outbreak, not all Bundesliga grounds have resumed their full potential.
Games behind closed doors affected jobs in German stadiums, from 52,786 in 2019-20 to 26,183 last season.
Despite the losses, the association said the first and second tier clubs spent 1. 1.3 billion on taxes and fees for the 2020-2021 season.
