More than two weeks after the start of the operation, Russia confirmed on Sunday that negotiators were making progress in talks to end military operations in Ukraine.

Leonid Slutsky, a member of the Russian negotiating team, told state television network RT that “significant progress” had been made after several rounds of talks on the border with neighboring Belarus.

“If we compare the positions of the two delegates at the beginning of the talks, now, we see great progress,” he told the network, according to Russian news agencies.

“I expect this progress to create a cohesive position that both delegates will agree on in the documents to be signed in the next few days,” he added.

Negotiators from Moscow and Kiev have held several rounds of talks since Putin sent his troops home.
This week, Turkey hosted the first meeting between the foreign ministers of Russia and Ukraine.

Earlier on Sunday, Mikhailo Podolyak, Ukraine’s presidential adviser and aide, wrote on Twitter that Russia had stopped issuing “ultimatums” and instead “listened carefully to our position.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zhelensky said on Saturday that Russia had “adopted a fundamentally different approach” to the talks.

For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in talks this week that there were “some positive changes” and that the talks were taking place on an almost daily basis.
